Meet the Foster Family

of Catlandu

  • Foster Kittens

We have started a new adventure here at Catlandu and Doogies too, KITTENS! After many years of taking care of old ones we decided to add some new life to the mix.

Kittens in Hawaii are too numerous to ignore. Their needs are great as are their appetites. What fun to help these little ones get love and food and more love…. and more food!

Watching them grow every day, with unbound curiosity and enegry has given us all much laughter and delight.

The only trouble is saying goodbye to each one when it is time for their forever home… I’m learning to share… except I have foster failed three times and counting!

  • Sushi

Oh my I’m a terrible Foster mom. I want to keep them all! Sushi is no exception. This beautiful baby arrived from Animal Control with her sister Mochi. Absolutely gorgeous and healthy Sushi is thriving! Romping and playing while purring is her specialty. She’s very affectionate and full of curiosity befitting her spirt. I could just eat her up!

  • Mochi

Sister to Sushi, Mochi is a bit more reserved in nature but an equally beautiful Siamese kitten. Once she gets comfortable with her people and environment she’s a playful purr-ball of fun. Her big fat belly rolls around in joy. These two are definitely bonded so we are hopeful they will get adopted together (if I don’t adopt them too!)

  • Foster Doggies

Rescuing sick and dying dogs has been in the forefront of our mission for many years. We have recently partnered with Action 4 Animals Hawaii to assist them with special need animals. It has proven to be a wonderful collaboration and we are happy to help when we are able.

  • Foster Fails

Well, apparently I’m not the best at letting these darlings go. I’m trying to wean myself and understand the mission of fostering. I must admit I am most certainly failing at finding other homes for the kittens. Every time I say I can do it but by the time they’re ready for a new adventure they just hang around here with those kitten eyes and I’m a goner. I need help. Someone come adopt someone!

  • Uno

Not officially a foster… if he lived there was never a question of letting him go…

Uno was found on the road unable to walk and extremely close to death. After an emergency vet visit he received antibiotics, worm medicine, nutritious food and lots of love. We were amazed at his daily progress. A fighter indeed, he hisses and purrs at the same time. Uno now has become a real spunky, wild one. He romps with Floyd and Petunia and has found his place at Catlandu. He has become the elder brother to Sushi and Mochi now! It’s nonstop mayhem around here.

  • Pretty Boy Floyd Merriweather

Foster Fail. He now lives here.

Floyd arrived at Catlandu with his sister, Petunia Blossom. They were left abandoned in the forest at just three weeks old. Covered in fleas and full of ringworm these two were a real challenge to bring back to health. Having never dealt with ringworm I was totally paranoid all the other critters here would be infected… so isolation and daily bathes, medicine and sterilization of their enclosure (for 21 days) was necessary. But day by day they improved and soon were glowing with health and happiness.

Needless to say I became totally attached to these two and have decided to adopt them into the clowder at Catlandu.

Obviously I can not keep everyone who we help… but I sure would like to!

  • Petunia Blossom

Another Foster Fail. She now lives here too!

Petunia Blossom (sister of Floyd) is now a very healthy, happy purr machine. These two had a rough start but that seems like a long time ago in kitten time. She is full of curiosity and plays non stop…until passing out from exhaustion. I understand how it’s really good to have two (at least) kittens to entertain each other! My heart is happy to have such young love running around the house.

PS: Nala and Maggie are totally in love with these kittens and are unbelievably gentle with them at the kittens jump all over them.

    Love rules!
